Global Health Seminar Series “Applying a One Health approach to tackling the next pandemic”

  • 29/04/2022

??Out of an estimated 150-300 communicable diseases in humans, 65-70% are found to have originated in animals. Further to that, the estimated economic impact of communicable diseases on humans, animals and cropping is more than US$41 billion annually.

?A One Health approach emphasises intersectoral collaboration and coordination in order to improve the health of humans, animals and the environment. This approach has been adopted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN (FAO), the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other key international organisations.

?In this seminar, Prof Le shares about how this approach is being strongly applied at the global, regional and national levels, with Viet Nam being recognised as one of the exemplars of this approach. Speaker: Prof Le Thi Huong, MD, PhD Dean, School of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, Hanoi Medical University
